Elaine Luria on Energy & Oil

Leading fight against offshore drilling

I am helping lead the critical fight against drilling off the coast of Virginia. Offshore drilling threatens our national security and safety of our sailors and our tourism economy by spoiling our beautiful beaches and shorelines. I was proud to cosponsor bipartisan legislation to protect our precious coastline.

Nuclear energy can play key role in green energy future

Reducing America's reliance on foreign oil, while simultaneously combatting climate change is essential to our national security and protecting our coastal region. I have laid out a bold vision for cutting greenhouse gas emissions while investing in the jobs and infrastructure of the future.

Nuclear power, when deployed safely and responsibly, can play a key role in our green energy future. I introduced legislation to encourage innovation in nuclear technologies.

Fighting to protect coasts from offshore drilling

The Senior VP of Government Affairs said, "LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Luria because she has been fighting to protect our coasts from dangerous offshore drilling and climate change's impacts since day one in Congress. She knows firsthand how pollution and sea level rise threaten lives and livelihoods in the Chesapeake Bay region, and she is fighting back by co-sponsoring legislation to ban offshore drilling and to honor America's global commitments to climate action."
